Hair growth is a cyclical process which results in each hair follicle being in one of three distinct phases at any given time. It is during the growth (“Anagen”) phase where hair removal is most effective as the light energy from our industry-leading laser technology converts to heat and travels the length of the hair shaft to the hair follicle. The heat is absorbed by pigment in the hair follicle which leaves it severely weakened or destroyed. As the hair follicle is needed for hair growth, this limits any new hair growth and over multiple sessions, all hair is targeted without harming the surrounding skin.

The simple, truthful answer is that this is different for everyone. The reason is both men and women have different hair growth patterns and each individual hair follicle is in a differing phase of its growth cycle. These factors make it difficult to ascertain a definitive timeframe for results but from our patients, we understand that there is up to 15% hair reduction following 4-6 weeks of the first treatment, followed by an additional 9-15% reduction for each treatment thereafter. The best results are up to 6 sessions where hair reduction is up to 90% effective.

Our Medical Director and specialist trained team recommend a minimum of 6 sessions to obtain long-lasting hair-free results.

The exact intervals between sessions will be determined and communicated at each of your sessions by your dedicated practitioner, this is as everyone is different and therefore, our treatment plans are tailored to each individual. As an indication, most of our clients have 4 to 6 weeks between each of their appointments.

All our patients will notice a considerable reduction in hair growth (up to 90% after completing the six-session treatment). However, at present no laser hair removal clinic or technology can eradicate hair permanently but it most definitely allows for long-lasting results.

Following the principle of the selective photothermolysis, it transforms the light emitted into heat, to selectively destroy the germinative cells of the pilous follicle. The melanin, the substance that gives the hair its colour, absorbs the laser light emitted and transforms it into heat, causing the denaturing of the pilous bulb without damaging the surrounding tissue.

During your first session, our practitioners will determine your skin tone and select the most appropriate setting on our laser hair removal machine.

Utilising the Eneka Pro device makes laser hair removal significantly less painful than older technology. The Eneka Pro embodies a cooling technology which keeps the top of the handpiece – which is the proportion in direct contact with the skin – at a constant 0 to 5 degrees temperature throughout the session. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Our Medical Director has advised that for the safety of our patients, we would not allow treatments whilst a patient is pregnant. If you have already booked sessions and become pregnant during your treatment plan, we would encourage you to reach out to one of our team to extend the timeframe of your plan.

Throughout treatment: If hair removal is required between sessions on the treatment area, you need to shave. Please do not wax, pluck, use hair removal cream or extrapolate hair as this results in the temporary removal of the hair follicles which are required during laser hair removal treatment (as the heat damages and destroys these follicles).

We recommend avoiding chemical or medical-grade peels and laser resurfacing treatments on the treatment areas.

 

Up to a week before:

We recommend avoiding skin-care products which might irritate the skin barrier, i.e. alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) and retinoids. Exfoliate the treatment area(s).

 

Up to a day before:

Between 12 – 24 hours before the laser hair removal session, please ensure you shave the treatment area(s). Please ensure there is no fake tan present on the skin. Please ensure you have washed and cleansed the treatment area and are free from skin care (if the face is being treated), occlusive creams, oils, deodorants, colognes and perfumes.

Please avoid UV exposure for two calendar weeks and avoid sauna and steam rooms for up to seven calendar days.

Laser hair removal in a correctly trained clinic like ours ensures the safety of our patients. In medical studies to date, there is no evidence to suggest that any laser hair removal (when properly conducted) can cause cancer as the Diode laser technology emits non-ionising radiation.
