How much is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal varies in cost dependent on the treatment area and package selected. Please check our Pricing and Packages section for specific costs. At SwissLaser we pride ourselves on offering affordable packages, bulk sessions and individual sessions so we have no doubt we will be able to cater for your needs at an budget-friendly price point. This is exemplified by our commitment to a price match guarantee.
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal works through a process called selective photothermolysis, whereby light energy is absorbed by melanin in the hair and converted to heat, damaging the follicle and over-time reducing its ability to produce hair. As laser hair removal is most effective on hair in the anagen (growth) phase, several sessions are needed to successfully target hair.
How many laser hair removal sessions before seeing the best results?
Truthfully, this varies dependent on a range of individual, biological, and hormonal reasons. Each individual hair follicle is within a differing phase of the hair growth cycle at any single-time, meaning several sessions are required to successfully target hair in the most effective stage (anagen phase). Hormonal and biological factors influence hair growth, meaning it is difficult to ascertain a definitive timeline for visible results but from our experience with our clients and aligned to the industry, we expect that there is approximately 9-15% hair reduction following each of the treatments.
How many laser hair removal sessions are recommended?
Our trained practitioners are best placed to advise on the recommended number of sessions based on individual circumstances; however, the minimum recommendation for an introductory course for females with no underlying hormonal imbalances is between 6-8 sessions. It is important to note, after a successful course of laser hair removal, maintenance sessions are required to sustain long-term results.
What gap is recommended between laser hair removal sessions?
The exact intervals between sessions will be determined and communicated at each of your sessions by your dedicated practitioner, this is as everyone is different and therefore, our treatment plans are tailored to each individual. As an indication, most of our clients have 4 to 6 weeks between each of their appointments.
Does laser hair removal permanently remove hair?
Whilst our clients notice a significant reduction in hair-growth, no clinic or laser device is able to permanently remove hair as over-time, previously dormant follicles may become active or new follicles may be recruited. Therefore, maintenance sessions are a requirement for long-term results.
Why would I choose SwissLaser for laser hair removal?
Our clinic was founded with a single goal in mind: to deliver reliable, affordable results for men and women on a hair-free journey.
Unlike many clinics that offer a wide range of differing treatments, we focus exclusively on laser hair removal which has allowed us to invest in the highest quality laser technology and specialist practitioners. At SwissLaser, we believe that to do it right, we must maintain a laser-sharp focus on understanding the few crucial factors which are considered when selecting a laser clinic near you: price, effectiveness and convenience.
- Price: we’re changing the market in Birmingham and the UK when it comes to competitive prices and packages, this is strengthened by our Price Match Guarantee. There are no compromises to the consumer for this, instead the compromise is only to our own profits as we chose to trade at fair, affordable prices.
- Effectiveness: our attention to quality has led us to acquire cutting-edge laser technology which is effective across complexions and hair-types.
- Convenience: we have put significant investment into the things that matter: the laser, location and practitioners – this enables us to be in a prominent location on Hagley Road, accessible by car, train or metro and fitting seamlessly into your life.
Which laser do SwissLaser use on clients?
At SwissLaser, we use the Eneka Pro Diode Laser. Please see our “About” section which has a dedicated page which details the benefits of this industry-leading laser.
How does Eneka PRO work?
Following the principle of the selective photothermolysis, it transforms the light emitted into heat, to selectively destroy the germinative cells of the pilous follicle. The melanin, the substance that gives the hair its colour, absorbs the laser light emitted and transforms it into heat, causing the denaturing of the pilous bulb without damaging the surrounding tissue.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Utilising the Eneka Pro device makes laser hair removal significantly less painful than older technology. The Eneka Pro embodies a cooling technology which keeps the top of the handpiece – which is the proportion in direct contact with the skin – at a constant 0 to 5 degrees temperature throughout the session. This minimises any pain and protects the skin barrier. Please look at our reviews on Instagram and the booking platform to assess how comfortable clients are during treatments!
Can you have laser hair removal whilst pregnant?
Congratulations on your pregnancy! Our Medical Director has advised that for the safety of our clients, we would not allow treatments whilst a client is pregnant. If you have already booked sessions and become pregnant during your treatment plan, we would encourage you to reach out to one of our team to extend the timeframe of your plan.
What do I need to do to prepare for a laser hair removal session?
Throughout treatment:
If hair removal is required between sessions on the treatment area, you need to shave. Please do not wax, pluck, use hair removal cream or extrapolate hair as this results in the temporary removal of the hair follicles which are required during laser hair removal treatment (as the heat damages and destroys these follicles).
We recommend avoiding chemical or medical-grade peels and laser resurfacing treatments on the treatment areas.
Up to a week before:
We recommend avoiding skin-care products which might irritate the skin barrier, i.e. alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) and retinoids. Exfoliate the treatment area(s).
Up to a day before:
Between 12 – 24 hours before the laser hair removal session, please ensure you shave the treatment area(s). Please ensure there is no fake tan present on the skin. Please ensure you have washed and cleansed the treatment area and are free from skin care (if the face is being treated), occlusive creams, oils, deodorants, colognes and perfumes.
What do I need to do after a laser hair removal session?
Please avoid UV exposure for two calendar weeks and avoid sauna and steam rooms for up to seven calendar days.
I have PCOS which results in excessive hair growth, can I have laser?
At SwissLaser, we pride ourselves on being inclusive for as many medical conditions as possible. PCOS often results in excessive hair growth (termed Hirsutism) and luckily, our cost-effective packages enable clients to live with this side-effect as best as possible. SwissLaser has been able to help manage the excessive hair growth (often darker, coarser hair) for numerous clients diagnosed with PCOS.
Can laser hair removal cause cancer?
Laser hair removal in a correctly trained clinic like ours ensures the safety of our clients. In medical studies to date, there is no evidence to suggest that any laser hair removal (when properly conducted) can cause cancer as the Diode laser technology emits non-ionising radiation.
